  • Professional Information

I am currently a postdoctoral fellow at St. Jude Children's Reseasrch Hospital in the lab of Dr. Charles Mullighan. We are interested in the genetic basis of childhood leukemia. I joined the Mullighan lab following the completion of my doctorate work at the University of Utah in Pharmacology and Toxicology where I focused on protein-based and combination therapies for chronic meyloid leukemia.

Following graduation from Lewis & Clark College in 2004 (BA Biology and German Studies), I worked at Oregon Health and Science University for 4 years. During this time I worked primarily under the direction of Dr. John Brigande investigating inner ear hair-cell development. Specifically we were interested in defining the identity of and interactions among genes governing sensory organ specification.

  • Other Interests

When I was younger I dreamed of being a wildlife photographer and working for National Geographic. My father gave me his old SLR camera and I couldn't put it down. I would photograph my friends doing tricks on bikes or a building in town that stood out. In highschool I built a dark room in parent's basement. I spent many hours there processing film and printing photos. Today I continue to practice the art of photography in my free time, only now with the ease of a digital darkroom. Sharing my work with others drove me to learn the basics of web development, which I do now for small organizations I am part of. To take a look at more of my photography, go here.
